What is Network Marketing?

Ok, let’s get straight to the point! There are just a couple of ways to earn an income. A traditional way, is where you trade hours for dollars, meaning you have a regular J.O.B. Working for a B.O.S.S.earning a limited P.A.Y. and getting a set amount of T.I.M.E. off. Stop working and you stop getting paid. Ever been laid off? Scary isn’t it? The income well dries up, savings get depleted and you’re off to try to find the next gig.

An alternative form of income generation is residual or leveraged income. The kind that streams in even if you are not working. Take for instance a famous author. They write the book once, say for instance Harry Potter and then get paid each and every time a book is sold, or a movie based on the book is rented, or a theme park admits visitors to the ride based on your book.

Or a singer that records an album once and gets paid each time the song is played on a radio station, or a cd is sold. ITunes song is downloaded. Not a bad way of earning an income is it?

BUT, what if you are not a great author or a famous singer. Very few reach those ranks. What other options are there for earning a residual income?

You could be an insurance salesman? Ever tried that? Sell a policy once and earn a residual commission each year someone renews their policy. But unless you’re the broker earning a share of each agents comission, you’re still trading time for money. No sales….no commissions!

That’s where Network Marketing comes into the picture! All I could say when I heard about this business model was WOW! The concept is amazing.

What is Network Marketing?

Network marketing is a business model designed to market products and services through a army of self employed entrepreneurs. Payments that are normally paid out to middlemen and paid to the entrepreneurs. The beauty for the network marketer is that as you introduce others to your team and help them realise their dreams you get overrides much like a real estate broker or insurance broker. Residual income.

Timing – It all depends on which side of the growth curve you are on!

Yandell in his book “How to Become Filthy, Stinking Rich through Network Marketing: Without Alienating Friends and Family” tells the story of someone named John who joined a 30 year old established company. He worked his tail off and achieved significant ranks within the company but never achieved the income levels of those who joined the company before its growth/momentum phase. It is more risky, and many a ground floor opportunity ended up in the basement. But if you get the right company, at the right time it is like striking the jackpot over and over again.
